Character Survey
Basic Info
---
Name- To humans, he's know as Abacus. Occasionally he is jokingly dubbed Mr Spock, both for his intellect and slightly pointed ears
Age- The Earth has orbited the sun 48 times in Abacus's life
Gender- Male
Height- 6'0
Weight- 182lbs
Race- Drifter (non-human)
History
---
Hometown/Birthplace- The Drifter Fleet
Parents- From a society that is matrilineal, Abacus was raised by his mother (known as 'Emily' to humans) and his uncle (know as 'Atlantis' ). Emily is well known at USF headquarters as one of the few Drifter doctors willing to heal human victims of the war. Throughout the years, she has taken in a number of injured humans and cared for them as long as it took to return them to a USF Base. Atlantis, as his name just might suggest, is a skilled engineer specializing in underwater technology
Abacus's biological father, from another ship in the Fleet, was never known to him, as is the way of their culture. He is not considered a part of his family
Siblings- None. Abacus is an only child
Appearance as a child- Same as now but shorter and with longer hair (Drifter hairstyles are traditionally long)
Life
---
Job/Career- In the United Space Front human military, Abacus ranks Colonel and is pulled in and out of Active Duty almost on a daily basis. When not participating in the war, Abacus serves as head of the science and technology research department on the Artemis700 USF Base
Love interest- Currently, none
Likes- Science and technology. Engineering, programming, and general field research are among his oh-so-exciting hobbies. He doesn't take time off, he doesn't need it or want it, and the time he doesn't spend on a ship, in his office, or in a lab, he spends in the classroom teaching at the USF Academy
Dislikes- When Major Ballard pulls him away from his work to try teaching him human sports. He knows how to play them, he just doesn't enjoy them. That's why he avoids them. Ballard just can't seem to grasp that. However, he does display some interest in the sport of football (soccer)

Special
---
Powers- If you mean superpowers he has none. Except maybe his hearing, if that counts. Drifters' primary sense is their hearing, which is comparable to that of a whale or bat
Strength- Abacus is physically stronger than his human associates, but mostly he is smarter. At a very young age Abacus was intellectually at a human college level and he only continues to learn as he becomes older. Wisdom, peace of mind, and rational thought are highly valued in his culture as well as continuous personal growth and seeking out new experiences
Weakness- Abacus's eyesight is extremely poor. While this does not limit him in most situations, it can serve as a slight handicap when dealing with humans whose primary sense is their sight. For example, he cannot read human writing unless it appears on a computer screen, in which case he can decipher light patterns to make out the words. Also, Abacus believes in being devoid of attachment, even to people, which some humans view as a mark of disloyalty
Health- Abacus has very good health, both in comparison to humans and also among his own people. His mother was a doctor, and as a result of her influence he is very capable of taking care of himself
